My covered compensation
Covered Compensation represents the approved rate on one of the UC Salary Scales associated with your academic series, rank, and step. This compensation is covered under the University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP) up to the amount permissible under law and in accordance with UCRP provisions and regulations.

For paid faculty who are members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP):
- X = Covered Compensation (Base Salary) - For an individual, X represents the approved rate on one of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan Salary Scales associated with that faculty member's academic rank, step and academic programmatic unit. The Base Salary is covered under the University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP) up to the amount permissible under law and in accordance with UCRP provisions and regulations.
- Y = Negotiated additional compensation - Members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan may receive a negotiated amount of additional compensation. This component of pay is beyond the base salary (X) and is not covered compensation for UCRP.
- Z = Incentive/Bonus compensation - Members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan may receive incentive/bonus compensation. This incentive/bonus compensation is not covered compensation for UCRP. Consult with your department's compensation plan to determine your eligibility to earn incentives.
For paid faculty who are not members of HSCP and for non-faculty academics:
- X represents the approved rate on the UC salary scale for your academic series. It is associated with your academic rank and step.
